











Wild Sparrow Banjo Dulcimer
This banjo dulcimer plays similar to a typical 5-string banjo but without the B string and with a dulcimer fret layout. Suggested tuning is gDGd. Unlike traditional banjos with tops of animal skin top this instrument has a wooden soundboard of book matched alder.
With this tuning and layout almost every note you play will fit nicely into a typical major or minor scale giving you the relatively easy ability to improvise.
Dulcimer tablature can be adapted, tabs for DAD dulcimer tuning can be translated as such: 0, 1, 2, 3 on the double/melody string of dulcimer tabs would be played along the central long string’s frets 0, 1, 3, and 4. As dulcimer tabs continue to higher frets such as 4, 5, 6, 6.5, 7, etc. this will will translate to the banjo dulcimer’s frets 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, and so on up the high d string.
